Nicholson Residence — Bend, OR
Working with the designer, JS Brown to cover up a tile that existed on the fireplace surround. Scott Brown wanted to use hot rolled blackened steel to make a more rich and enhanced statement for this project. The challenge for MODERNFAB was to fabricate the parts and install around existing shelves, cabinets and finished walls / ceilings. Taking accurate measurements are the key. Laser cut panels were made and pre-finished at the studio. Each panel was “dry fit” before actually attaching permanently. Utilizing a 3M VHB tape to help with keeping the panel in place, silicon was also used to act as the glue. The system worked perfect and the final product was a success.
